Aug. 23: First-Year Student Move-In Day Will Affect Staff Parking

First-year students are scheduled to arrive on campus on Tues., August 23. This will have a significant impact on campus traffic flow and parking. Valentine Lot, all of Zone 3 South, and the entire length of Intercampus Lot will be needed for the move-in process. Employees who regularly park in these lots will need to park in the BAAC Lot (next to the Bloch Alumni Advancement Center). A shuttle will run from 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. between River Campus and BAAC Lot. Any vehicles left in Zone 3 South or Valentine Lot after 11 p.m. on Mon., August. 22 will be towed to the far end of that lot at the owner’s expense.

To reduce the load on alternative parking and traffic flow, employees may want to consider working remotely on Tues., August 23 or take it as a vacation day, with your supervisor’s approval. While there are certainly important departmental functions that must be maintained that day, departments are urged to approve requests that will not excessively disrupt their activities.

There will be minimal impact to parking on Wed., August 24, as parents may still be on campus for orientation meetings. Regular overflow may occur on this day.

The University apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure a smooth and efficient move-in for our new students. If you have questions, contact the Department of Transportation and Parking Management at (585) 275-4524 or parking@rochester.edu.
