Starting May 17: RTS to Change Bus Schedules, Routes to URMC, River Campus

On Monday, May 17, Regional Transit Service (RTS) will launch Reimagine RTS, the redesign of their transit system in Monroe County. Changes to RTS bus routes, schedules, and bus stops will impact getting around River Campus and the Medical Center.

Following are route changes effective as of May 17 and options for getting to and from the Medical Center and River Campus:

  • RTS Route #48/Elmwood Ave. will now be RTS Route #97/Elmwood Commuter and will run between the Twelve Corners area and the Medical Center five times per day. To get to River Campus, take the bus to the Medical Center and either walk along the pathway or connect to the University’s Blue Line shuttle at the School of Medicine and Dentistry. The Blue Line shuttle stops at Rush Rhees Library and operates all year.
  • RTS Route #4/Genesee will now be RTS Route #16/Genesee and will offer more frequent service to employees and visitors traveling to and from the Medical Center. Service will run every 15 minutes from 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays, and every 30 minutes all other times.
  • RTS Route #47/Monroe will now be RTS Route #11/Monroe, which will operate on a 15-minute frequency, 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. on weekdays. To get to River Campus, connect to the University’s Orange Line shuttle at Monroe and Goodman. The Orange Line shuttle stops at Rush Rhees Library.
  • RTS has discontinued direct service to River Campus. The closest way to get to the center of River Campus will be via the Genesee St. and Brooks Avenue stop of either RTS Route #16/Genesee or RTS Route #17/Jefferson. From there, connect to the University’s Gold Line shuttle at the Brooks Crossing stop. The Gold Line shuttle stops at Rush Rhees Library and runs during the academic year. To get to the Medical Center from the library, connect with the Blue Line shuttle and get off at the School of Medicine and Dentistry.
