Dagmar grew up near Würzburg, Germany, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1992.  She studied Psychology at the University of South Florida, where she received her B.A. in 1997.  Dagmar then moved to New York and started her doctoral studies in Clinical Psychology at the University of Rochester.  Her research focused on adolescent socio-emotional wellbeing, parent-child relationships, peer relationships, and resilience in the face of adversity.  She particularly loved her clinical training at the University Counseling Center and, after she graduated with her Ph.D. in 2008, was thrilled to join UCC as staff psychologist and outreach coordinator.  Dagmar transitioned into her current role as UCC’s clinical director in 2018.  She appreciates the challenge of ensuring access to high quality mental health services for University students and feels privileged to work with a diverse team of competent, caring, dedicated, and fun staff members and professionals in training.  She enjoys teaching and supervision, as well as group psychotherapy and (most recently) animal-assisted treatment.  She favors psychodynamic, relational, and existential theoretical approaches but integrates other modalities in her practice of psychotherapy.  She particularly enjoys working with international students, first generation college students, Eastman School of Music students, as well as grief and loss.  In her free time, Dagmar enjoys spending time with family and friends (including her dog, Bella), traveling, hiking, camping, kayaking, skiing, dancing, live music, the Rochester Public Market, and many arts and crafts.
