Short-Term Individual Psychotherapy

Individual therapy appointments last 45-50 minutes. Therapy is available for a variety of problems such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, family problems, grief, academic related problems, and general discomfort about what is happening in one’s life.

We realize that not every therapist is a good match for every client. If you have concerns, we encourage you to try to discuss is with your therapist first. You also have the option to request a change to another therapist.

Formal feedback or concerns about your therapy experience can be shared with the UCC director or through the UHS Patient Advocacy process.

Group Therapy

Each semester, the University Counseling Center (UCC) offers a variety of group therapy experiences. In group therapy, you can count on the expertise of the therapists who facilitate the group, and you can also get to know other students who are experiencing similar issues as you. Group therapy, like individual therapy, is intended to help people who would like to gain support, increase self-awareness, and learn new ways to cope with personal or interpersonal challenges.

Drop-In Groups

Drop-in groups are one-time events offered to students in need of support and connection related to a significant event. These groups differ from group therapy as they are one time, not therapy, and no referral is necessary. If you are part of a group who would like support time led by therapists focused on connection and coping, please contact the University Counseling Center at (585) 275-3113.
