UHS Health Care Providers

As your Patient-Centered Medical Home, the University Health Service (UHS) offers a team-based approach to patient care and treatment that is comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible. UHS health care providers are organized into two patient-centered Medical Home teams, the Blue Team and the Yellow Team.

To provide our patients with high quality care as efficiently as possible, we assign all full-time students a UHS physician or nurse practitioner as their primary care provider (PCP). Your primary care provider will work in collaboration with members of his/her team to coordinate your care and treatment.

When you call to schedule your appointment, the receptionist can see the name of your PCP on her computer screen. She will begin by offering you appointment times with your PCP or with someone from your PCP’s team.

To see which team your PCP is on, click on UHS Blue Team or UHS Yellow Team.

UHS Physicians and Nurse Practitioners:

Appointments with Primary Care Provider (PCP)

Call UHS at (585) 275-2662 to schedule an appointment with your primary care provider (PCP). If your PCP is not available at a time that fits your schedule, we will schedule an appointment with a member of your PCP’s team, which includes physicians and nurse practitioners. Your PCP’s team also includes registered nurses, medical office assistants, and receptionists.

Female students who need a routine gynecological examination can schedule an appointment with one of our health nurse practitioners who specializes in women’s health. Each team has a women’s health nurse practitioner on the team. Your PCP also provides women’s health care services.

You are welcome to change your primary care provider if you wish, or you may see any other UHS staff member upon request.

Appointments with the UHS Psychiatrist

Visits with the UHS psychiatrist for assessment and medication management are covered by the mandatory health fee. A referral from your primary care provider at the University Health Service or a therapist at the University Counseling Center is required before an appointment can be scheduled.

Please speak with your primary care provider or therapist if you would like to be seen by the UHS psychiatrist. Call UHS at (585) 275-2662 to schedule an appointment with your primary care provider. Call (585) 275-3113 to schedule an appointment with a therapist at the University Counseling Center.
