Health Care Providers

As your Patient-Centered Medical Home, the University Health Service offers a team-based approach to patient care and treatment that is comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible. Health care providers are organized into two patient-centered Medical Home teams, the blue team and the yellow team.

To provide our patients with high-quality care as efficiently as possible, we assign all full-time students a physician or nurse practitioner as their primary care provider. Your primary care provider will work in collaboration with members of his/her team to coordinate your care and treatment.

When you call to schedule your appointment, the receptionist can see the name of your primary care provider on their computer screen. They will begin by offering you appointment times with your primary care provider or with someone from your primary care provider’s team.

Physicians and Advance Practice Providers:

Appointments with Primary Care Provider

Call University Health Service at (585) 275-2662 to schedule an appointment with your primary care provider. If your primary care provider is not available at a time that fits your schedule, we will schedule an appointment with a member of your primary care provider’s team, which includes physicians and advance practice providers. Your primary care provider’s team also includes registered nurses, ambulatory technicians, and outpatient access associates.

Students who need a routine gynecological examination can schedule an appointment with one of our advance practice providers who specializes in gynecological care. Each team has a GYN care advance practice provider on the team. Your primary care provider also provides gynecological care services.

You are welcome to change your primary care provider if you wish, or you may see any other staff member upon request.

Appointments with Psychiatry Providers

Visits with psychiatry providers for assessment and medication management are covered by the mandatory health fee. A referral from your primary care provider at the University Health Service or a therapist at the University Counseling Center is required before an appointment can be scheduled with one of the psychiatry providers.
