Allergy Injection Services:

Initial Consultation

Before you begin receiving allergy injections at University Health Service, please schedule an appointment for an initial consultation. This appointment should be scheduled at the University Health Service office, where you will receive your allergy injections. You can receive your allergy injections at any of our three offices (i.e., River Campus Office, Medical Center Office, or Eastman School Office). You are asked to come to the same office each time you receive allergy injections.

When you come for your initial appointment, please bring the following:

  • Your allergen extracts are in bottles labeled clearly with the type and concentration of allergen. We will store your serum in the refrigerator in the University Health Service office you choose.
  • Explicit instructions from your physician that provide a list of individual antigens in each vial and a complete regimen for their administration.
Scheduling an Appointment

Call University Health Service at (585) 275-2662 to schedule an appointment. Please let the receptionist know which University Health Service office works best for you. You will receive your allergy injections at the same University Health Service office every time. Please note appointments for allergy injections can only be scheduled when a physician or nurse practitioner is on-site.

Insurance Coverage

Full-time Students

The mandatory health fee covers the cost of your visits to the University Health Service. You will, however, need to provide your allergen extracts and peak flow meter, which will be stored at University Health Service for you.

Employees and Members of the University Community

You must receive your first two allergy injections at your allergist’s office. You will be charged for the initial consultation and for your visits to receive your allergy injections. The cost to receive two or more injections at a time is slightly higher than the cost to receive one injection. You may be asked to return to your allergist at the discretion of the University Health Service nurse due to missed injections, failure to wait the required time after your injection, and several local or systemic reactions.

Suppose you have a primary care provider at University Health Service and are insured by Aetna, Blue Choice, or Preferred Care. In that case, you will be charged the co-payment each time you come to University Health Service for your allergy injections. Payment is expected at the time of the visit.

If you do not have a primary care provider at University Health Service: We recommend checking your insurance coverage before you receive allergy injections at University Health Service. Your insurance plan might not cover the cost of receiving allergy injections at the University Health Service. If you come to University Health Service for your allergy injections, you will be charged for the initial consultation and the allergy injections.
