Six months of progress: How myURHR is transforming HR services

Big changes don’t happen overnight. But with teamwork, continuous learning, and patience, myURHR is already making an impact.

myURHR Workday and UKG are key examples of HR modernization in action, and six months after the systems launched, we are seeing valuable results. Improved self-service capabilities, real-time insights, increased efficiency, enhanced applicant experience, and more are helping to drive progress.

While transitions of this scale do come with challenges, the benefits are clear and widespread.

Increased efficiency

The move from paper to digital has automated HR processes, increased visibility, and reduced manual work. Coordinators and other roles benefit from dashboards and improved reporting features, including the Payroll Detail Reports.

Interesting fact: Approximately 20 paper forms were converted to digital processes or workflows, which will be utilized thousands of times yearly

Empowering through self-service

One of the most exciting benefits is self-service functionality. Whether updating time-off requests in UKG or personal information in Workday, managers and staff now have direct access to complete many HR tasks independently, eliminating delays and giving them more control over their information.

Interesting fact: 1,339 employees have updated their personal information in myURHR since go-live

Improved recruitment capabilities

myURHR Workday simplifies the hiring process by allowing hiring managers and others who coordinate recruitment activities to easily move candidates through each stage—from application to offer. With built-in reports and dashboards, hiring managers also gain real-time visibility into their open requisitions, helping them assess progress and make data-driven decisions.

Interesting statistic: More than 4,090 new staff job requisitions have been posted since go-live

Enhanced candidate experience

Additionally, myURHR Workday has improved the online applicant experience for both internal employees and external candidates. The Workday careers site offers advanced search functionality and filters (e.g., candidates can search by location and also remote or hybrid opportunities), making it easier to find the right roles. Improved applicant tracking speeds up hiring and ensures accuracy, while the onboarding dashboard keeps new hires on track.

Interesting statistic: There have been more than 1,970 staff new hires since go-live

Expanded security roles access

Thousands of staff members now have a direct, streamlined way to request new security roles for both Workday and UKG. Employees needing modified security access for their job responsibilities can initiate the Authorization Request Application process in Workday. myURHR roles were added to this process, which is available for all of the University’s Workday platforms.

Interesting fact: Security roles are assigned to each position at the University rather than attached to a specific individual. This allows for greater flexibility, especially when an employee transitions to a new job, as security access for their new position will already be available.

What’s next?

Momentum continues to build. Over the coming months, the myURHR support team will look more broadly at ideas that will continue the enhancement of system capabilities and user experiences.
