As a participant in the UR Career Pathways (URCP) program, there are certain expectations that must be met to ensure successful completion of the program and successful career development, such as coordinating work schedules and receiving approval from your supervisor for any time away from work required to participate in URCP.
Eligibility criteria
- Must have been employed by the University for at least one year in current regular full-time position, prior to submission of the URCP application
- Please Note: Applicants interested in nursing positions, including LPN and RN, must have been employed with the organization and in a current full-time role for at least nine (9) months prior to submission of the URCP application.
- Must have received a Successful or Exceeds Expectations on their most recent performance evaluation
- Is in good standing (no disciplinary action in the last six months)
- Is interested in career development at the University
- Has been recommended by a current manager who will support release time to attend trainings and/or educational needs

- Individuals who have already been accepted into an academic degree program are not eligible to participate
UR Career Passport
The UR Career Passport is provided to each participant and will be completed and returned at the end of the participant’s career navigation journey, indicating successful completion of all program requirements.
Benefits
Enhanced tuition
For positions that require a formal degree or certification from an external provider:
- Tuition costs will be covered at 100% with no out-of-pocket expense for participants in an approved program
- Tuition fees will be paid directly to the partnering educational institution on your behalf
Important note: This also includes any books and uniforms required for the educational program.
Release time
Participants who are enrolled in a formal degree program or participating in internal training to prepare them for a high-demand position will be eligible to receive up to eight hours per week of paid release time, based on full-time equivalency (FTE) level.
While participating in URCP, it is important to understand that:
- Approval for the Program does not guarantee a new position or promotion as a result of completing the Program.
- Approval for admission into the Program does not guarantee admission into any required educational programs. You remain responsible for admission into any such programs for which you may be approved under the Program.
- If employment ends (voluntarily or involuntarily), eligibility for participation in the Program and any University sponsorship for external education will end.
- Additional requirements for participation in the Program may apply if you participate in tuition-based programming.
- Active employment in an eligible status (full-time, in good standing required) must be maintained through completion of the program.
- Participating employees will not be eligible for other University-sponsored tuition benefits while in this Program.
- Timely communication and regular meetings with Success Coach (and Academic Advisor, if applicable) are required in order to ensure success and continued support.
