The focus of the UR Career Pathways program is on helping current employees begin a new career pathway in a high-demand position.
Eligibility criteria
- Must have been employed by the University for at least one continuous year in their current regular full-time position, prior to submission of the URCP application
- Applicants interested in nursing positions (LPN or RN) must have been employed with the organization and in their current full-time position for at least nine (9) months prior to submission of the URCP application.
- Must have received a Successful or Exceeds Expectations (3.0 or higher) on their most recent performance evaluation
- Is in good standing (no disciplinary action in the last six months)
- Is interested in career development at the University
- Has been recommended by their current manager
Exclusions:
- Employees of affiliate hospitals are not eligible to participate in URCP.
- Individuals who have already been accepted into or started an academic degree program are not eligible to participate in URCP.
- Individuals represented by collective bargaining agreements may participate in Career Navigation Services, but will receive benefits in accordance with those agreements.
Expectations
As a participant in the UR Career Pathways (URCP) program, there are certain expectations that must be met to ensure successful completion of the program and career development, including:
- Remaining an active full-time employee throughout the program
- Maintaining good standing in your current role with no disciplinary action
- Timely communication and regular meetings with assigned URCP Success Coach and Academic Advisor to ensure success and continued tuition support.
- Active communication and collaboration with your supervisor to coordinate work schedules and approval for paid release time if applicable
While participating in URCP, it is important to understand that:
- Participation in URCP does not guarantee a new position or promotion.
- Acceptance into URCP does not guarantee admission into an educational or training program. You are responsible for meeting criteria and applying for admission into any URCP-approved academic or training program.
- If employment ends (voluntarily or involuntarily), eligibility for participation in the URCP program and any University sponsorship for external education will end.
- Participating employees will not be eligible for other University-sponsored tuition benefits while in this program.
