Employee Benefits and COVID-19
University of Rochester Office of Total Rewards and our vendors are closely monitoring COVID-19. We are committed to employees receiving appropriate testing, treatment, and resources during this unsettled time. Listed below are the benefit enhancements for members.
Employees and their covered dependents enrolled in the University Health Care Plan are eligible for certain COVID-19 services at no cost share. For questions regarding coverage of COVID-19, reach out to your TPA: Excellus at 1-800-659-2808 or Aetna at 1-877-864-4583.
Additionally, the CARES (Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security) Act, passed by Congress, has expanded the list of covered expenses that you may use your HSA or Health and/or Limited Purpose FSA on. The expanded list in the legislation is retroactive to 1/1/2020. Qualified expenses now include: over-the-counter medicine without needing a doctor’s prescription and all feminine hygiene products.
Retirees enrolled in an MVP Medicare Advantage Plan through the University of Rochester have additional COVID-19 services covered at no cost share. If you have questions regarding COVID-19 coverage, reach out to MVP at 1-800-665-7924.
403(b) Retirement Program
Participants in the 403(b) retirement program are eligible for a retirement plan distribution and/or retirement plan loan. These provisions are for employees who may be experiencing financial hardship due to coronavirus. Individuals are required to certify they are eligible for these provisions. Additionally, beginning May 1, 2020 to September 23, 2020, TIAA has waived all loan origination fees on new retirement plan loans in an effort to support participants.

Hyatt Legal Plan
The Hyatt Legal Plan offers benefit-eligible employees who are not currently enrolled, the opportunity to have access to an attorney for several legal issues - including documentation review until 7/31/2020 at no cost. VSP Vision Care
Through December 2020, VSP members can access essential medical eye care services for sudden vision changes or loss, eye trauma, pink eye, etc. Members can also use VSP benefits towards replacement glasses or contact lenses. Learn more and/or contact VSP at 1-800-877-7195.
Auto & Home Insurance
Employees taking advantage of the auto and home insurance program will receive a 15% credit for two months of premium through your provider.
