Smoking Cessation

There's never been a better time for University of Rochester employees to quit smoking with the help of the Healthy Living Center!

People who stop using tobacco enjoy immediate and substantial health benefits. As part of the University of Rochester's comprehensive health and wellness benefit called YOURhealth, full-time and part-time faculty and staff can receive confidential individual coaching and/or group support at the Healthy Living Center to help them reach their goals for better health and well-being. Non Medicare-eligible retirees and spouses enrolled in a University Health Care Plan are also eligible.

The Healthy Living Center offers a Tobacco Dependence Program designed to help those who use tobacco improve their health, regardless of their desire to stop. Individual counseling is provided, and a treatment plan typically includes four contacts with tobacco dependence counselors and two visits with medical staff. The HLC's proven approach focuses on a patient's:

  • Experience of Stopping Tobacco Use
  • Management of Withdrawal Symptoms
  • Assessment of Medication Options
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Ongoing Support

The Healthy Living Center is conveniently located at 46 Prince Street, just around the corner from the Memorial Art Gallery. There is plenty of FREE parking!

If you would like to know more about current programs or to schedule an appointment, please call the Healthy Living Center at (585) 530-2050.
