National Trails Day Event 2009
June 24th
11:30 am-1:00 pm
Carlson Library
This year the University of Rochester Employee Wellness team, Well-U, is enthusiastically supporting its first annual National Trails Day Event. The American Hiking Society's trail awareness program, National Trails Day® (NTD), encourages the public and trail enthusiasts alike to seek out their favorite trails in order to explore, learn, celebrate, and appreciate them (www.americanhiking.org/NTD.aspx). The University has a unique opportunity to promote the Genesee Valley Park trails as it sits alongside this unique and historical area. Well-U’s trails day event will aim to increase awareness of the many Monroe County parks and trails available across the greater Rochester area, proper trail safety, attire, and other activities to increase vitality and well being.
To help celebrate the occasion, Well-U will be joined by the School of Nursing to provide free biometric screenings, Fleet Feet Sports to showcase and discuss proper footwear and attire for enjoying the beautiful parks, and the American Heart Association to promote men’s health awareness in celebration of National Men’s Health Month.
There will also be FREE giveaways (i.e. well-u t-shirts, pedometers, & raffles), snacks, and refreshments. This event will be held from 11:30am-1:00pm in front of Carlson Library.
