Now, University of Rochester employees can learn to reduce and manage the stress in their lives.


Coping with Work and Family Stress

Stressed WomanIn partnership with the Strong Employee Assistance Program, Well·U offers a seven-week stress management program called Coping with Work and Family Stress

Participants in the program will have the opportunity to transform their stress.


  • Learn methods that can potentially eliminate or modify sources of stress;

  • Identify and practice techniques that help to modify mental and emotional processes that lead to or worsen stress;

  • Adopt effect strategies for managing stress and reducing harmful coping behaviors;

  • Develop a personalized stress management plan to maintain the program's beneficial effects.

Specific weekly topics are as follows:

  1. Core Concepts of Stress Management 

  2. Problem Clarification

  3. Communication Skills for Managing Stress

  4. Time Management and Mindfulness Skills

  5. Assertiveness Skills for Managing Stress

  6. Cognitive Restructuring

  7. Personal Plan for Coping with Stress

Well-U first offered Coping with Work and Family Stress in May 2006. Since then, the program has been consistently popular and well-received. Participants report that they enjoy the program and complete it better prepared to address the stresses in their life.
